Aurora
I went on a special shopping trip yesterday with Anina so that I could buy something I have been talking about for awhile… My new sewing machine!

Is it weird that I just want to sit and stare at it? :) I am just amazed that I have such a nice sewing machine! Part of me is amazed because this honestly was not the machine I went into the store planning to buy yesterday. The machine I had planned on buying was a step below this one (in the Activa line), but the shop was out of stock on that machine so they offered me an amazing deal on this one to make up for that. It was just too good to pass up, so this lovely machine came home with me :)
Anina did ask me if I was going to name my new machine, and even though it isn’t very original I think I am going to name her Aurora. It was either that or Nina - which isn’t too original either, but I am just terrible at naming things. :)
Apparently not having a sewing machine the last few weeks made me instead want to buy fabric. Does that seem a little backwards? I didn’t have a sewing machine, so I went fabric shopping a bunch instead. I think it was the crafting withdrawal or something :)
Some lovely new linen that was on sale so I just couldn’t resist…
Fabric from a shop that was closing…
Celebrating buying my new sewing machine with a little bit more fabric…

I think it is probably safe to say that I am addicted to fabric :)
Fabric shopping is not the only thing going on around here though, I am still working on setting up my studio space. Just a little sneak peek with Axel’s help…
A big thank you to my wonderful husband who wanted me to be able to have a better sewing machine, gets that I can never have too much fabric, and doesn’t mind that I only left him a little corner for his desk in my studio.
Edited to include: I am trying a little to catch up on project 365, so there are some new photos over on my flickr page. Head over there to check them out :)

Congratulations on your new sewing-machine! And the fabrics. And the 365 project with all those wonderful photos of your cats!
I found your blog via Anina. I had some kind of flashback, so I may have visited before…!
I know you will enjoy this machine. Bought one in January @ Road to California quilt show, but am saving the embroidery module until this summer because I wanted to learn the “basics” first.
Yay! Welcome home Aurora! Is she getting settled in?
The chair is great (and so is Axel, of course).
Aurora seems appropriate for her…Aurora (Borealis) is a beautiful thing! Is this the machine with the built-in stitch regulator? Congratulations on your new best friend!
When I received my Husqvarna Viking DS1 embroidery / sewing machine, I did a lot of sitting and staring. I’m still amazed three years later at all the things it can do! It’s so exciting. I, too, have quite a bit of fabric. I think of it as affordable art!

Congratulations! I have an Aurora too and I LOVE it! :) May you have many happy stitching adventures together!
Wow, that is uber fancy-schmancy! Good for you! Can’t wait to see the stuff that flies off that thing into your Etsy shop!
Glad to see that Axel isn’t “just” sitting around, but is at least offering his opinion on where he thinks things should go in the new place (albeit from the couch!). Decorating–Axel style. He is so West Coast!
aurora is a perfectly lovely name!! i’m sure she will be a loyal, true-blue friend!! xoxo
yippeee!
beautiful machine, beautiful fabric. have fun!
cool chair pattern!! reminds me of my summer wardrobe :)
Aurora is lovely and how wonderful to have a friend like Anina close so that you can have these adventures together. Love the fabric and think that you are totally justified buying it and more…you actually sew things with it! I love to buy fabric, but I never get around to making anything. I have lots of grand plans but poor follow through and subsequently lots of lovely fabric filling up my home. So I will keep checking back here to see your wonderful creations and hear about all of the amazing things Aurora can do!
beautiful fabric, beautiful machine! I can’t wait to see what you make with it! Have fun. :)
Happy spring~
congratulatons on Aurora’s arrival! have fun!
Yay, a new machine! Love all that fabric. Have a nice weekend!
Ooh! Lucky, lucky you!!
I got Aurora’s almost twin sister for my birthday this month, another dear husband. He was as interested as I was once he heard it has 5 motors! Today I am off to class from 10a.m. til 6 p.m. to get some training on the tricks of using her. Of course I didn’t wait and have been sewing like a mad woman ever since I got her but it never hurts to have a little instruction! Especially need help with the stitch regulator, I want to get really good with that.
Great machine and love the fabric!
Congratulations on your new machine :)
