more about the move

I just wanted to say thank you all for your wonderful comments on our upcoming move. I plan to email each of you individually, but wanted to say thanks here too :) It is starting to sink in that we will be moving in less than 2 weeks & I feel like I should be doing more. I have packed a few things myself, but we are having movers come in and pack the rest so there isn’t much to do with that. Although there are still plenty of other things to get done (just not as much fun as packing in my opinion), so there is a lot of move prep stuff going on around here.

Besides preparing for the move there isn’t much else going on… my sewing machine actually decided to completely die on Tuesday night while I was in the middle of working on a project. So that meant I couldn’t give it to my sister as planned or finish the projects I had planned on working on this past week… Instead I did take it in to the sewing repair shop & should find out if it is fixable either today or tomorrow. I am still planning on a new machine after we move, but I had really hoped to finish some of the projects I had been working on before we moved. If it isn’t able to be fixed, I guess I will just have to wait though… Oh well! (Side note: I will never, ever buy anything brother brand again after the experience I had with this machine…. their customer support was terrible & I have had so many problems with this thing. End rant - sorry just had to express my frustration. :)

Project 365 is still going strong though & I made a new mosaic for the month of February. I did actually forget to take a photo one day (for the first time since I started the project), but I had taken several the day before so I used one from that day instead. So go ahead & take a look at some of my project 365 photos from February (links to each photo below the mosaic)…

Good luck with everything. It’s great to have people pack your stuff.
I hope the sewing machine gets revived long enough to finish your projects.

You didn’t ask, but I cannot say enough good things about my machine, a Huskystar C20. It wasn’t crazy expensive (but you might want to check before you move to the coast, where I imagine they cost more), if you are the least bit interested in one.

Lera seems to have a lot of issues with her brother too.

oh dear, poor sewing machine! i hope you have better luck with your next one in your new city. i’ve found janomes and berninas to be super-reliable, (especially 2nd-hand ones) for some reason! i guess if they work well over many years, they will for many more too. your 365 photo mosaic is beautiful! so much lovely linen and cat goodness. :)

good luck on the move! my project 365 sort of fizzled in the middle of sick kids. its back up, but with a wee less gusto.

sorry about your machine and that it died in the MIDDLE of a project JUST BEFORE a move. the nerve!

do you have any idea of what kind of machine you are going to buy to replace your brother?

I have a Brother, too (with an embroidery unit). I have had sooooo many problems with it. I originally bought it Jan 2006 and have had it replaced twice since then. Two years, three machines. I will never buy another Brother either. Ever.

Sorry about your machine. I had horrible luck with my brother machine way back when I had one. You are really going to love and appreciate your new machine when you get one.

You are doing really well with the everyday photo! I’ve missed so many days! Mostly because I work 12 hour shifts which don’t leave much room for anything else. I’ve also just completely spaced it too. Then I have the problem of having like ten photos just hanging out in my camera until I finally decide to upload them! I’m actually doing a lot better than I thought I would (ha!)

I’m so excited about your move!! ACK!!!

Well at least its one less thing to pack ;) In line with never buying anything made by brother (I mean really they specialize in typewriters and we all know how that turned out) Don’t get anything the sales person tells you you don’t need to oil. If it doesn’t need oil, Its made out of plastic. Good luck with the move!

Oh, I hope you can find a way to finish your projects. I had a little scare this morning when my camera wouldn’t turn on even though I had just charged the battery. But I plugged the battery charger into a different outlet and it seemed to do the trick so hopefully it will be fine.

Congrats on moving! I hear Seattle is gorgeous place and I hope you guys like it a lot!

Best of luck to you guys!
