a scarf for my sister & reading
This winter linen scarf is going to live with my sister & hopefully help keep her warm the rest of the winter (it will still be winter for several more months where she lives)…
While she was here visiting at the beginning of January, I told her to pick out any fabric from my stash so I could make her a scarf. (Well I should be honest here any fabric with the exception of one Japanese print that I am hoarding for myself :) I I love the fabric combination she picked out & hopefully she will like the squirrel flannel that I picked for the back.
Last night Ben & I went out to the library to get a few books I had on reserve & to see about finding some other stuff to read… This is the pile I came home with, an odd mix of photography books, an art book, one knitting book (I like looking at knitting books but never use the projects since I am still very much a scarf only sort of knitter), and a couple fiction books…
Unfortunately our library has a very limited collection of photography books. I was really hoping to find some more, but I guess I will have to start looking online (which is a slight disappointment because I much prefer checking out a book from the library first to see if it is any good before I buy it). Any good suggestions for photography books or really any books in general? (I am also quickly running out of good fiction authors that I enjoy.)

I went to the library last night too!! My husband has a favorite photography book called Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. I’ve get to read it, but it’s on my list. I have started to use a site called GoodReads.com to keep track of what I’ve read and what I want to read. I have a link to my books on my blog.
i love that squirrel flannel. i think i might have some. or maybe i was forced to put it back because i really did have too much in my cart. really, i did.
the scarf is great!
I love the scarf. Your squirrel fabric is different than mine. (I didn’t see it at the store that day.) Very cute.
Great scarf! Where did you find the squirrel flannel?? It’s adorable!
Gorgeous scarf - very cute fabrics.
nice color combo on the scarf. it’s fun that she was able to pick out the fabrics so that you are sure to know that she will like it. (I have the hardest time picking out color schemes for other people.)
Your sister has good taste :) I love how the scarf turned out. And I use the same library technique to test out a book’s quality. Isn’t the library fabulous?
your sister has great taste and if she doesn’t like it (yeah right) you can send it my way! hope all is well with you sweetie!
I am so exicted to see the scarf! It is freezing here!
By the way, baby girl- your photography skills are increasing significantly. You have always had an eye for it, but I am so impressed by how your skills are being refined. Keep up the good work and if you ever want to upgrade cameras again… I would be more than willing to take the current one off of your hands… same goes for sewing machines :)
P.S. I am taking a little break at work right now- hence the late night posting of comments! I am on a short stretch of nights… just three in a row and my preceptor is just great!
Great scarf! We have a small community library downtown (which is about 2 blocks big) but we have the most awesome interlibrary loan system and they are really good about getting you the books you want. I also like to check out a book before buying and often buy secondhand from half.com or amazon’s used books. Good luck!
ahh, the library. how i love it. i’ve just joined my first norwegian library! :)
that is a beautiful scarf for your sister. she’ll be so happy with it!
