In Stitches Apron
Do you ever spend a bunch of time working on something, think halfway through that you are not sure it is worth it, finish it and then know it wasn’t worth it (but still try to convince yourself that maybe it was)? That was my day yesterday… I have a lot of crafting/sewing books that sit on my bookshelf, opened occasionally for inspiration but hardly ever used for the projects within. So yesterday I decided that it would be fun to try a project out of one of those books. For some reason I picked the “In Stitches” Apron….
It turned out nice, although the directions had you put it together in not the smartest way ever in my opinion. I followed the directions anyways, causing me to halfway through wish I had never read the directions and just put it together the way I would have thought it went together. (Has anyone else made this apron & felt the same way? Maybe it is just me though… I seem to hate patterns unless it is one I make:)
Anyways all that work and I don’t even think I like it on…
Oh well!
Oh and that photo above of Axel, it just seemed to fit this entry… :)

I think the apron looks fabulous! But I know what you mean about some pattern direction being counter-intuitive! I end up changing everything. But don’t think it was a waste-it is cute!
I, too, think it looks fabulous on you!
I love the apron. If you don’t like it, maybe use it as a give-away or wait for a swap.
I think it looks terrific on you.
Well, the apron LOOKS amazing Chara! I have the “In Stitches” book but I’ve never looked at the apron pattern, so I can’t offer any advice.
Really cute though!!
I hardly ever read Amy Butler’s instructions because I find them terribly confusing. I think yout apron turned out great - wear it with pride!
I too think the apron looks great on you and the fabrics are cute. It looks like Axel is up there reading your post. :) I actually have a long project I’m working on now and I sometimes stop and think, why am I doing this? I’m glad you stuck with your apron…
i adore the colors you chose! this happens to me on a regular basis. i like to use books completely as inspiration! i am far too sloppy.
Okay, here’s my 2 cents and no, I haven’t made the apron. You don’t like it because you’re just so skinny! I think hippier women might need the gathers to help flatter their figure, but you don’t need flattering ‘cuz you’re already thin. Does that make sense? It’s a shame because that is such pretty fabric and you did a great job on it. Maybe it would make a nice Christmas present for someone?
I think it looks cute!
The apron looks great! I have that book, but haven’t made anything from it yet.
Your kitty is cute too. My kitty is black. I have the hardest time photographing her.
Oh-so-cute!!!!! It looks great!
I think it looks great! But if you don’t like it then that’s what counts I guess. :) I don’t have that book so I don’t know but I tend to be an idiot when following directions and patterns and just do my own thing too.
Well, I think the apron looks great. Beautiful fabric combination. If you don’t care for it, perhaps it would make a great gift as it sure is pretty enough.
I absolutely agree with you about the directions on patterns which is pretty much why I rarely, if ever, use them. Too frustrating, especially when you know this can’t be right but keep on working on it because obviously the author must know more than you …. only to find out you were right in the first place!
oh, so pretty! I love the apron, especially the fabric you chose. now, you have to go wear it while baking a pie. :)
why don’t you like it? it fits perfectly and the fabric is gorgeous!
YOu’re so slim…. sigh laden with envy.
I’m so with you on the pattern thing…I don’t do well with them. I’d rather use the pieces they give me and try to figure it out on my own…or else all from scratch.
I think your apron looks cute! maybe it will grow on you. :)
The apron looks great. I sould make some for Christmas gifts…
Yikes! That should read s-h-o-u-l-d

I think the apron looks wonderful!
I love your apron! I made it last year for Christmas gifts & if I remember right I think that the directions where kind of hinky. Yours turned ot great anyway though!
VERY pretty! Look at your tiny little self- It looks great on you.
Fabulous! You should wear it all the time! ^_^ You’ve inspired me to make one.
It looks wonderful! I love everything about it from the sweet little pocket to the fabulous gray and yellow color scheme. But I totally feel you on strange pattern directions…Sometimes they make things complicated when the *really* don’t have to. Sheesh.
I love the apron!
I haven’t done any sewing since middle school, so I can’t help you with the sewing advice. But I think the end result looks great. I like the length and the cute pocket.
Ok, I’m the 27th person to tell you that I think the apron looks great. Have you changed your minde yet? Of course, I used those same fabrics to make a dress this past spring so I might be a little biased.
Axel looks so much like Lexie in that photo!
