Sari’s survey

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

This entry might not make sense to anyone but my sister, still I felt like it would be fun to post it. She wrote a survey awhile back with crazy questions and told me that I should fill it out too, so here it is. Thanks Sari! If you know her, or have any appreciation for awesome humor then enjoy! (The questions are all her, the answers are all me. So if it isn’t very humorous it is probably the answerer’s fault:)

What building would you most enjoy seeing knocked down (legally of course)?: The library in my city. Don’t get me wrong, I love the library it is just the building itself is hideous! The crazy thing is that they are building a new library right behind it, so in a year (? or so) the library is actually going to get knocked down.

Do you really enjoy reading or do you just say you do and read so much because you think it makes you look cool?: I really do enjoy reading that much. Although, unlike my sister I cannot claim to have hidden books and read in class and I would enjoy going to the beach more than sitting in a coffeeshop reading (although I will probably bring a book to the beach). Oh and I really don’t think people stay up all night because it is fun to be tired, I just have to finish the book to find out what happens.

To you, what defines a successful shopping trip?: My sister not getting a headache and me finding the perfect outfit (or whatever I might be shopping for).

What are your favorite characteristics about hedgehogs?: The way they curl up into a little pokey ball when they don’t want to be bothered. (Hmm, I wish I could do that… do you think anyone would mind?)

Have you ever had plastic surgery?: Nope, and I have never been completely under anesthesia. I have only had local anesthesia (totally awake) for my wisdom teeth and one other tooth being removed (two separate occasions). I have this crazy fear of anesthesia, so I never plan on getting plastic surgery or any other kind of surgery if I can help it.

Were you a band geek?: Hmm, I don’t know. I did major in music in college for awhile…. does that mean I was a band geek?

Why does it sometimes look like you slept in your clothes?: Probably because when I got home from school I put sweatpants and a comfy shirt on, slept in those same clothes, and then decided I didn’t really feel like getting ready when I woke up.

What do you hate most about Minneapolis?: How is was always so stickin cold out! My worst memory is my last winter there, going out to my car for over a week and not being able to start it because it was -10 degrees (not factoring in wind chill at all!) for that whole entire time. No place on earth should stay that cold with no reprive for that long!

Why are you always making a “top 10 lists your favorite people on planet earth?”: Unlike my sister I have never thought to make one of these. I am not sure I could handle offending someone if I forgot their name or if they thought I was ranking them….

When was the last time you had a Tuberculin Mantoux Skin Test?: I don’t know the exact date, because that would require me getting off the couch to check. However, I do know that it was sometime right before school started (Health professions require this).

Why do you eat such strange food and in such a strange way?: Because I have food allergies and I am a vegetarian. Oh and because I really hate to mix foods on my plate or eat two things at the same time (it just bothers me).

Why do your clothes never quite fit you?: They don’t!?!?!?! Unlike my sister, I do shop in the correct section of the store. (Well, usually at least)

How strongly do you feel about the things that you feel most strongly about?: Very strongly!

Why are you so afraid of sharks?: I have to agree with my sister who said that governments can be more scary than sharks. Although I do hold a high respect of sharks and what they can do to us.

If you are capable of erasing your own memory, can you erase mine as well?: I am pretty sure I don’t get this question…. Wait, what was the question again…. Who are you? I think my brain is fried….

craigslist rocks and so do moms!

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

I think Ben & I might have set a record for one of the fastest Craigslist sales ever! Today we decided to do some cleaning and organizing of our apartment, which included getting rid of some stuff. We have been planning to get me a new desk for awhile now (the one we have picked out is from IKEA, we just have to take a trip there to get it) so we needed to get rid of the two small desks that I had been using. I went and posted the desks on craigslist at 4:30pm this evening, we got an email just about 30 minutes later, the couple came over a little bit after that, and by 6:30pm they had left and taken the desks with them. How is that for fast! Now do you know anyone who needs a futon or a flute? :)

Nothing else eventful has really happened this weekend, just some relaxing and cleaning. Tomorrow I will hopefully study bunches (hmm… doesn’t sound like much fun now does it!) and maybe even work on some sewing? I haven’t done any sewing yet this weekend, and I really want to get that scrub top started so maybe… Oh and definitely laundry day tomorrow too!

Tonight we get to sleep on 510 thread count sheets that my mom bought us for Christmas. I ironed them after washing & before putting them on the bed, and the sheets are so soft feeling. Grateful to have a wonderful mom who buys nice things for Christmas that I probably wouldn’t have been able to convince myself to buy (but now I feel that everyone should have such high of thread count sheets:).

1 year

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

As of today I have been blogging for 1 full year. Quite a bit has happened in that year…. Pounce has gotten bigger and less kitten like in some ways (but he is still sweet and loves people), I worked at the humane society in the last year, I quit working there too, we got Axel (the best part about moving and living where we are right now), I started school to become a vet tech. So yeah, lots of stuff and I am sure this year will hold even more. And of course I plan to blog through all of it this year also:)

School has been really busy…. I have been learning stuff about surgery, I have taken 2 x-rays already this semester (and developed them also), I have been learning how to do a complete dental prophy (basically teeth cleaning and exam), and lots of other stuff…. in fact, some days I am not sure my brain can actually hold this much information:)

I got 7 books from Amazon.com this week… yes you read that right, 7! The last few arrived tonight and I am pretty excited about all of them. Here they all are (click on the cover to go to the amazon page for more info)…

Now I just have to actually find time to read them and get some crafting/sewing time in…. Maybe this weekend? I am actually wanting to finally make at least one scrub top this weekend (or start) since I have had the fabric sitting around forever. (And to top it off, the other day I saw a scrub top in a catalog actually made out of the material I bought to make my own out of!)

Hope everyone has a good night!

One of my new favorite blogs… 3191 a year of mornings. I just really love the concept, it also makes me feel a little more motivated about taking pictures more often.

Not feeling great about school right now… a little bit of wondering, a little bit of needing to think about life and my goals.

There is actually snow on the ground… It snowed last night and this morning and it was gorgeous outside this morning. I just wanted to put on warm clothes and go outside in it, and then come back in for hot cocoa (but instead I had to go to school).

The power was out today, but it is back on now. Thankful for warmth and heat…

lots to show & tell

By the way if my brother-in-law or sister-in-law are reading this, I would really like to see pictures of your new puppies! (Now how is that for pressure:)

Wow! Where in the world do I start? Life has been crazy busy for the last couple of weeks really… I know I said I was going to post pics of my trip earlier this week and I had planned on writing a little more frequently on here but well… first my computer was having issues, so Ben fixed those for the most part (I think he is still going to completely reload windows and such, but I first had to get some stuff off of it), then school has been REALLY busy.

Feeling a little bit out of sorts about school and life right now… Maybe that is too honest, but this is my blog and place to write so if you don’t want to read and would rather skim down to see pics I understand. Just not sure if I am still out of sorts from all the time changes (I am not really back on United States time, I have been going to bed early and getting up earlier than I normally do) or what, but I just haven’t felt the way I did last semester about school. I am somewhat frustrated with a few things about school and don’t want to really go into all of it, but just wish that sometimes rules and such were thought over a little more rather than just done and accepted.

Also feeling frustrated with the fact that so many people in life are close minded… I don’t mind people having opinions and beliefs and even holding very strongly to those (I do so I can’t say that is bad), but I do mind people just doing things for the sake of doing them or getting stuck in the same old things because it is all they know. The frustrating part is that I think this is a fairly prevalent attitude in the area where we live. Things I thought that a lot of people felt strongly about I am starting to learn are not that way. That might sound naive, but I don’t really think it is when you understand the issues, I really think we all should challenge ourselves to grow and not just hold to the same old because it is what we know. I know I am not always great at this either, but I do attempt to make an effort and I find it sad when this effort is lacking.

I don’t really feel like I am doing a great job at expressing myself on these issues, but it feels a little better to just get it all out… Maybe you would prefer I move on to more light topics? Funny ones even? How about a funny story?

Okay so light topic now & pretty funny story…. The day before yesterday I was leaving school with my friend Jes. I was going to be heading home & she was going to the gym at school, so I got into my car to drive home… Well as I started the car I looked down to the passenger seat and across the floor I see a mouse running under the passenger seat. So what do I do? I scream of course & jump out of the car (okay yeah, the soon to be Vet Tech can’t handle a little mouse, I know!). After I jump out of the car I call for Jes who is across the parking lot and she comes over to my car to see what I am saying. The brave friend that she is, she looks under the seat but by then the mouse had run off somewhere. Well even if the mouse is gone, I cannot drive home wondering where it is, so I call Ben who gets off work early just to come get me and drive my car home while I drive his car instead. Needless to say, Ben has been driving my car the last two days and I am not sure I am ready to give him his car back:) (He definitely wins the award for best husband ever for humoring me and taking off early to save me from a little bitty mouse!)

So did you actually read all of that? I am impressed if so! I am getting to the pictures finally if you have been waiting this whole time for that:) Hmm… I just went through all of the pics of London that I took (which was quite a few) and I am kind of thinking there are a lot for this blog post seeing as it is already quite long. So do you think you can handle the suspense for a little longer? I think instead I am going to post some other pics and wait to post the London pics one more day:) Hope that is alright!

Of course no blog entry would be complete without pics of the two cutest cats in the world (okay I admit I might be a little bit biased on that issue! Maybe they are the two cutest boy cats in the world and my sister-in-laws cats are the two cutest girl cats? :)

Axel loves a good hiding place and Pounce just loves to be Pounce:)

Pictures from the drive between my parents house & Ben’s parents house… Both taken by me while Ben was driving. I miss seeing trees everywhere (oh and big bodies of water… I think I need to live by the ocean;)

So I promise I will post pics of London either tonight or tomorrow. It is just going to take me a bit to size all of them down to a point where they will fit on my blog (and there are a lot of pics so it will take me a bit longer than usual.)

London

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

I am back from my vacation and not so ready to start school already tomorrow. I didn’t really say much before I left about what I was going to be doing over my break, but I actually went to London. It was a great time and exciting to see another part of the world. I took lots of pictures despite the rain :) It didn’t rain the whole time, just almost every night at 5pm for about 2-3 hours. So maybe tomorrow I will post some pics in case anyone wants to see them. Right now my body is just much too tired to take the time to load pics, in fact I think I may go to bed in a few minutes (it is only going to be 7pm here). The time difference though has made it slightly confused so I feel like I should be asleep already (I was wide awake at 5am this morning, but managed to fall back asleep again after a bit). More tomorrow…..
