life, life, life

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

It has been a crazy, busy last week or so. I haven’t had much time to blog or much else unfortunately. I don’t really know how many people read my blog, but even if no one really did I would still miss writing on here. It really feels good to type away and just say what is on my mind sometimes. So what have I been up to that has kept me pretty busy?

Last week friday I took our kittys to the vet since Pounce needed his annual shots & such. During that visit we found out that Pounce has a small heart murmur. It probably won’t really affect his life, but it is still a good thing to know so that we can monitor it in the future.

Another interesting thing about that visit was the vet saying that she thought Axel might have some Abyssinian in him. (Of course at the time I couldn’t remember what word she said, but Ben looked it up online for me.) Apparently Abyssinian cats are a breed believed to have originited in Egypt. Their paws & tails can have tabby markings, but their bodys must not show the tabby markings. Straight from wikipedia “Abyssinians are very active, friendly, curious and playful, but are usually not ‘lap cats’; they are too preoccupied exploring and playing… Many Abyssinians enjoy heights, and will explore their surroundings in three dimensions, from the floor to their owner’s shoulders to the top of the highest furniture. They are highly intelligent, and probably the most independent of any domestic breed.” Hmm, that definitely sounds like Axel. Oh and go look at the pictures, we think Axel definitely has to be mixed with this type of breed. It definitely explains why he looks like a tabby, but doesn’t look like a tabby at the same time. (And it also explains why he LOVES people, but doesn’t really like being held much.)

After going to the vet, I took a little road trip to visit with my mom & sister for the weekend. We hung out, shopped, shopped some more, and had a really good time. I also got to meet my Bulgarian sister, who had been staying with my parents for the summer. The four of us went shopping almost all day saturday and I got to go to H&M, my favorite store. Then on Sunday we saw my aunt, uncle, and my cousin who was home for a short while from Iraq. It was a busy trip, but fun never the less. (We totally must do that again mom & Sari!)

This week, Ben had a business trip so I hung out with Pounce & Axel and did my homework pretty much. He is back now & I was sooooooo glad to see him! Like always school kept me pretty busy this week and it is promising to do so this next week. I have a bunch of flash cards with different tissues & cells that I have to go over for a histology practical on monday. It is not all work though since I do have plans in the works for sewing a purse. This one is actually not for me, it is for a friend:) I also have some other sewing plans floating around in my head…

Christmas is coming soon, can you believe it! (Okay, I know it isn’t even thanksgiving, but Christmas is soon enough that I have to start thinking about gifts.) Sari Max where is your amazon wishlist?? ;)

This entry just didn’t feel right without a picture, so here is one of Pounce & Axel just because…

Christmas in September

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

I love to get mail, especially packages, because it makes me feel like it is my own little Christmas. Even if I ordered something & I know that it is on its way, it always feels like a little surprise to get it and open the box. So today I was very excited when the package arrived with two books that I ordered off amazon (it had more, but the other ones were for Ben).

One of the books that I ordered was Amy Butler’s In Stitches and I am so happy I bought it for myself. I had never seen the book in person, but I love the fabric that Amy Butler has out so I figured I would probably like her book. Turns out I was right, as there are a bunch of projects that I really want to start on after just flipping through the book. So I think my sewing machine and I may need to take some time to hang out…. It has definitely been awhile as school has kept me pretty busy. I would say that maybe this weekend I will sew, but I already have plans. (I get to see my mom & sister, which is very cool:) So maybe next week? This may mean though that I need to buy some more fabric:) Like I really needed that excuse right!

School is going pretty good, although definitely on the busy side. This week was the first practical exams, so I was a little nervous and unsure what to expect but it went pretty good. I might even have to change my mind about sheep, maybe they aren’t that bad if just a little bit on the dirty side. (Seriously, a little bath & they might be quite nice to be around;) Next, in large animal we are working with cows…. this could definitely be interesting!

buffalos & lost cars

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

Okay this is pretty crazy. This is a gramatically correct sentence, “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.” If you don’t believe me go to here and read the article. Interesting, although it sort of made my head hurt… (I do have a lot crammed in my head currently though for my first exam tomorrow.)

Oh and no I am not spending my time finding information about gramatically correct sentences when I should be studying (I am only writing about them when I should be studying). For that you can thank Ben:)

So I am getting pretty close to 100 blog entries (I am in the very high 80’s) and for my 100th entry I just might have a few surprises. There may even be some sort of contest, so keep reading in the next month or so:)

Now I probably should get some sleep so that I do an excellent job on my Small Animal Nursing written exam tomorrow. (You would not believe the amount of information my brain is trying to keep in it right now…. Seriously, I mean it.)

Edited to include this: Okay I had to include this, because it is probably one of the funniest things I have ever heard. The guy forgot where he parked his car & was reunited with it 7 months later. Read it, it is pretty hilarious!

my soon to be crazy week

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

This coming week I have 2 Practical Exams, 2 Written Exams, and 5 Quizzes. Do you think I have enough to do?

I got my third and final vaccination for school yesterday. Ouch! My whole body ached by evening and I even had a little fever last night. Luckily, I feel a lot better today and no more shots for awhile!

Now off to do more studying…

the things in life I love the most

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

Okay, if you know me by now you have probably figured out that I love several things in life and these would include:

  • My wonderful husband, Ben
  • My adorable kittens, Pounce and Axel
  • My family and Ben’s family
  • Chocolate (who can live without this, okay besides Sari….)
  • My L.A.M.B. sweatshirt and….

My new L.A.M.B. sweatpants that came in the mail today!!!! :) Okay, I am very excited about this and maybe that seems a little ridiculous but I have never owned sweatpants before that were this comfortable, long enough on me, and cool looking. Here is a picture of me wearing them…

As you can see they are black with the word LAMB printed down the side. I definitely might live in these and my L.A.M.B. sweatshirt for the rest of the winter and next year, and the year after that…. both of them are the most comfortable pieces of clothing I have ever owned. Anyways…. I am pretty excited and happy about this and maybe that seems a little silly, but to that I say enjoy life and the small things (even if that means sweatpants:).

Pounce’s new favorite place to lay….

Yes, that is my bookbag that he is laying on (or should I say in?). I think he thinks that he is hidden from Axel, although if you look at what Axel is up to I don’t think that is is necessary to hide….

Curled up and sleeping away. He is definitely very nocturnal… this is what he has been doing all day, but he definitely was not sleeping most of the night.

What am I up to? Oh you know, just procrastinating on studying for anatomy & physiology by typing blog entries and trying out different hairstyles:) Anyways… I probably should stop writing and get to studying!

leopard print purse

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

So yesterday was a pretty unproductive day, due to the fact that I got a little sick feeling from the vaccine I got on friday. I didn’t have any problems with the first one, but I had a cold when I got the second one so I think my immune system was down and didn’t care to have to deal with all that.

Today was a little better and I actually got off the couch:) In fact I made myself a new purse with some fabric scraps that I had left over from the messenger bag that I made. Here it is….

And here is a picture with me wearing it for size comparison…

It really didn’t take me very long to make and I am really happy with how it turned out. This is the first one I have made like this and I just kind of made it up as I went along. (Which is always interesting since you don’t know how it will turn out.) I like it a lot though and I think I will switch to using it for awhile (until the next purse:).

I had mentioned that this weekend I was probably going to get a little sewing area set up. On friday night, Ben & I went to the store and bought a table for me and I now have my own space to sew in our bedroom. I was planning on making a little cover for my sewing machine and maybe a tablecloth for the table on saturday, but since I didn’t feel good…. Here it is anyways…

I love being able to sew and not have to put everything away for dinner:) I will probably get this area looking a little nicer in the next week or two, but for now it is just great to have the space.

Today I got a present, want to see? Fabric! I love this and am probably going to make a bag out of it. (I got a Vogue bag pattern as a present too.) The fabric is corduroy and the picture really doesn’t do the colors justice. The brown and red look really pretty together. I can’t wait to sew with this:)

If you haven’t already seen this - Cute Overload: “We know cats like boxes…” - go watch it! It is adorable:)

Enjoy labor day if you have off of work or school! I am probably going to study a ton, but it will be nice to have the extra day.

ouch…

So at school today we all got the second vaccine in the series of three that we need for the vet tech program. Can I just say that it is a little scary when the old lady giving you the shot holds out her shaking hand to stab you with the needle! Oh and then she proceeds to stab you while somehow getting rubbing alcohol on the end of the needle so that there is a horrible burning sensation as the needle goes into your arm. Not so much fun…. I took some pain killers a little while ago though so now I feel a bit better. In two more weeks I get the third and final vaccine, and I cannot wait until that is over with.

My day wasn’t great, mostly just because of the shot that I had to get and the fact that I find Anatomy & Physiology slightly depressing. (I really don’t get most of the stuff in that class, but Ben is going to help me study a little this weekend and explain some of it more for me which is pretty cool.) Tonight made up for it though for a couple reasons. For dinner we had my favorite pizza from a really good restaurant in town. I seriously think I could live on pizza all the time, especially this pizza with tons of cheese and sauce on it.

I also picked up a hardcover copy of the book Marley & Me for really cheap. The library sells off copies of new books when the books move of the new shelves and they don’t need as many any more. Even though I have already read it, I loved the book and really wanted a copy for myself. If you haven’t read it yet and you like animals or have a pet of your own, definitely read it! - Warning though, it might make you cry a little, but that isn’t always bad:)

Just knowing that it is friday and I have an extended weekend is a good feeling. I think this weekend we are going to try to get me a little sewing area set up so that I don’t always have to put my sewing machine away when we need to eat or anything. Who knows, maybe I will even get to sew a tiny bit. I have a couple really small projects that I would like to do so that might be kind of fun.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
