plans to conquer the world, but the plans fell through

Published by charamichele under Uncategorized

I had great plans to get a ton of stuff done today. That was before I overslept, felt too tired to start my day doing anything, played around with the cats…. You get the picture. So now I am procrastinating even more by typing a blog entry. Do I really need to write anything? No, but it is a nice way to procrastinate on the things I actually need to do. Oh well! Right after lunch I will get stuff done I say. Hmm… that sounds familiar (like right after I sleep a little longer, play with the cats, etc.)! No, seriously I am going to get a ton done this afternoon! ;)

I finished the top that I was sewing today. Luckily when my mom had come to visit she had helped me make a muslin (for non-sewers a muslin is basically a shell to make sure the pattern fits correctly). I don’t think I could have finished the top without that to refer to a couple of times. I love the patterns that this company makes, but lets just say the patterns are slightly lacking in the directions area - including grammar and spelling on the directions. Anways, I love how the top turned out and the process made me better friends with my seam ripper ;)

Here are some pictures, ignore the fact that the pics are self portraits since Ben isn’t home right now and I have no idea where the remote to my camera went off to. (Maybe it took a vacation or decided to find another camera to be friends with.)

The edging is a dark brown and I love how it contrasts perfectly with the bright coloring of the rest of the top. There are a few minor imperfections, but really what shirt (even store bought ones) doesn’t have minor imperfections. And if no one can find the minor imperfections when they see me wear it, then I am not telling what they are.

This is a picture of Pounce trying to help me make the bed. I was making the bed so that I could take a picture of our newly decorated bedroom. Of course, how would I ever manage without Pounce’s help!

Of course Pounce then had to show off the new look…

Most of the bedding and the picture were from Ikea. I have heard a lot of people make comments about how decorating your house in ikea is so unindividualistic (hmm is that a real word or did I make it up?). To me though, I think that statement is completely wrong. Well maybe it is right if your whole house is picked out of one of the displays from ikea, but to mix and match pieces is to express more individualism in my opinion. Some people spend thousands of dollars on interior designers to make it look like their houses are expressions of themselves. (I love it when you read in a magazine, oh so and so thinks their house expresses them so much better now that so and such an interior designer redid the house!) I love the ability to spend a much smaller amount of money and pick it all out myself and mix and match items from different places. Hmm, I even picked out my cat to match the room :)

Oh I thought I would also post a pic of me wearing my new sweatshirt that I got from my amazing husband on my birthday (okay I opened it up a day or two before my birthday since I couldn’t wait…). The bottom of the sweatshirt says “Where did my lamb go?” It is my all time favorite thing to wear now, so thank you again Ben!

And since I have some pictures of Pounce in this entry already, here is a picture of Axel. Right before Ben took this picture I said something about not having enough pictures of Axel. Needless to say Axel didn’t want to stay still while getting his picture taken and Ben reminded me that that is why we don’t have as many pictures of Axel :)

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope the weather is as gorgeous everywhere else as it is here!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Enjoy the fireworks tonight & the freedom that we have.

(And if you are a cat, right now might be a good time to run and hide under the bed:)

I don’t really feel like thinking of a title

This is going to be a short post, since Ben is talking about going to the grocery store to buy tiramasu ingredients and I might go with. I also have a headache, so excuse the fact that my spelling and grammar may not be perfect….

This week was really busy but good. My mom came to visit for my birthday (which was Tuesday) and she hung out with me for a few days. We went shopping - Ikea, H&M, and a bunch of other places. I loved Ikea and H&M has always been one of my favorite clothing stores. Although H&M on the east coast is definitely the best, since the clothes are more European than in other H&M’s (seriously the store selection varies by area). I got a bunch of stuff at Ikea to redo our bedroom with, and will post pictures soon (another words, when I have the energy to find the camera and straighten the room a little…)

I also got to see a friend that I hardly ever get to see anymore even though we don’t live that far apart. It was great to catch up and just hear how she was doing and everything. My mom & I also hung out with my aunt for a little bit (my mom’s sister). So it was a pretty cool little shopping/visiting trip that we took.

When we got back to my fair city, we got coffee at a little shop by a park I have been wanting to go to. (Which reminds me, they had bagels and Ben has been looking for a good bagel shop.) We also spent some time sewing. The tunic top is started and I love the fabric! I had thought about starting the dress first, but decided on the tunic top instead. When I have it finished I will take some pictures…. Ben also made us dinner one night and we had some great Mexican food another night… It was a lot of fun to have her around (I hope she feels the same way!).

So when I get some more energy maybe I will post some pics… Hope everyone has a great 4th of July! (Ben has a four day weekend yeah!!!)

Okay so maybe this wasn’t so short after all…
