Yeah I know it is hot everywhere in the country right now, but since it is my blog I am going to say how ridiculously hot it is here right now. Now don’t get me wrong, I love it hot out (in fact I don’t mind it even in the low 90’s), but 105+ is a little crazy. Yeah you read that right, there is a heat advisory because the heat index is over 105 degrees right now! Oh, and that heat advisory is supposed to last until wednesday. Is there enough electricity in the world to air condition everyone’s houses until then!? Unlike a lot of people we don’t keep our central air crazy cold (why turn the air down below the temp you would heat in the winter?), but still the central air does feel very, very nice right now. Living on ice cream until the heat lets up also sounds pretty good to me…
On to other topics… the other night it was storming so I thought I would knit for a little while. I started knitting a blanket awhile back (um maybe 2 years ago, it was before i was married…). Well, it is going to be a purple and gray stripped blanket. The stripes are going to be fairly big so each stripe takes awhile. Still that is no excuse for why I am still working on the first purple stripe. I couldn’t believe how little I have worked on it, well that is until I pulled it out of the closet and tried to work on it. Pounce & Axel love it when I knit! Yeah, they love it so much they try to eat the yarn, bat it across the floor, chew on my knitting needles, or swat quickly at my knitting needles. So I quickly remembered why I am only so far on my blanket. It is because I have two very adorable kittens that are way better than being able to say “oh I knit that blanket.”
This afternoon I am going to do a little sewing, stay inside with the a/c, and maybe eat a little ice cream.

So I just got back from the fabric store, where I bought fabric to make a dress, two aprons, and a pair of cropped pants. I also bought some buttons and thread. (Plus I bought a little something for my sister. You can guess Sari, but I am not telling what :) I leisurely strolled through the aisles and took my time just browsing. It was quite a bit of fun. Not that I needed any of the fabric I bought today. I already have fabric sitting at home to make two scrub tops (I want to get them done before school starts…) and a dress.
This is what I made the other night.

Yeah I know it is another purse. Not like I really needed one of these either, but I am trying to perfect my purse making skills:) I have to say that I really liked how this one turned out. I did things a little different so that the strap is a lot sturdier and so that the stitching where the lining attaches to the outside fabric is hidden. I have been using it for a couple days now and have to say that I love this style of bag. I am also planning on making a matching wallet and a couple of cases for inside this bag to keep things sorted a little.
So I got my funny looking boots and coveralls for school in the mail. The boots are a pain to put on, in fact I have yet to get them on with my shoes (you are supposed to wear them with your shoes inside). I do know that my foot will fit since I tried them on with just my socks and there is plenty of room, but when I tried to get them on with my shoes I got slightly frustrated. So I gave up temporarily (I know how about that…)! The coveralls are actually too small to wear a few layers underneath. They would be just fine if I didn’t need to be able to put on a few layers underneath, but since I need to wear these outside during the winter…. So I am going to return them and get the next size up. Maybe when I get the whole ensemble I will take a picture, or maybe not depending on how silly I look!
Sorry that my blog isn’t showing up great in ie. I am going to have Ben take a look at it, since I can’t figure out what I did wrong… He will probably be able to sort through my crazy html and figure out where I messed it up:)

Yeah! I got my new design up and so far I am really liking it. It even seems to work a little better than the old design. Which is very cool, since blogger has been kind of weird lately:) I hope everyone likes it!
okay so i take that back, it works in firefox just fine, but still looks strange in ie (augh!)
just goes to show that firefox is better:)

I often change my hair color because I am bored of it. If you have known me for any amount of time, you will have seen me go from blonde, to red, to blonde with blue, to blonde again, to purple, to black, to blonde again. I just get into a mood where I decide that wouldn’t it be fun to change my hair color.
I also love to rearrange furniture. It is boring to leave it in the same place all the time. Although the only downside to moving furniture is that eventually you figure out the perfect arrangement, so you either have to leave it, change it to imperfect, or buy new furniture (probably my favorite option:).
This isn’t to say that I get unhappy with stuff. I just like to be creative and change things around. Changing my hair color or redecorating is a fun way to express my creative side. So in the spirit of being creative and changing things, I have decided my website needs a little change. I have been working on a new look which isn’t quite ready yet, but hopefully I will have it up fairly soon. So I hope everyone enjoys it when I get it finished. Check back soon to see the results!
And no I haven’t changed my hair color recently :)

It is extremely hot outside today, so I am inside trying to keep cool. Finished a book, played with & cuddled the cats, procrastinating from washing the dishes by reading blogs, wishing I lived by a decent beach (preferably the ocean…), at least enjoying central a/c.
School starts in a little under 6 weeks, which I can hardly believe. It still feels like summer and probably will well into at least the end of september. I still can hardly believe that I am going back to school. The closer it gets to the start the more unbelievable it seems.
Since becoming a vet tech is a health program I had some health paperwork to fill out (had to prove vaccinations & such), all of that is finally taken care of as of yesterday which is a relief. Now I am just waiting on my coveralls & knee high fieldwork boots. Yep, that means this city girl gets to work with cows, horses, and other farm animals. Crazy huh! Hmm, this may mean a talk with my mom since she grew up on a farm and knows a little about these kind of creatures :) I am still a little nervous about starting a new degree and such, but figure it doesn’t hurt to try it since I already know how much I enjoy working with animals.
Well I am feeling a little more motivated now than when I started writing this. Maybe I will go get some dishes done and work on some other stuff. Stay cool everyone!

Happy Birthday Mom!
Yesterday was my sister’s birthday and today is my mom’s birthday. So I just wanted to wish my mom happy birthday as well and tell her that I hope she had a good birthday. You still look young mom, even if you are old enough to have a daughter who is married :)

This blog posting is in honor of my little sister who is turning 21 years old today! I was going to post a picture of us as little kids, but unfortunately I don’t have a scanner yet and the library doesn’t either. (What kind of library doesn’t have a scanner??? Apparently the kind that we have here :) So no embarrasing pics of her and me as little kids :( Anyways, I hope you have a great birthday darling sister! (And Sari, stop trying to catch up to me in age! It is only going to both make us older than we want to be :)
Happy Birthday Sari!

So I had a Iced Cafe Mocha from the local Starbucks today. It is a recently opened one around here and I wanted to see if it was any better than the other one in town (which has absolutely no comfortable seating). The good news is that there is some comfy seating at this new one, although not very much unfortunately. The bad news is that I think the cafe mocha had cane sugar in it. Bummer! It seems like this is fairly common for coffee shops unfortunately. One of the other ones in town definitely uses cane sugar in their drinks. For those of you who don’t know, I have food allergies and unfortunately cane sugar is one of them. Most people don’t know that there is more than one type of sugar and that cane isn’t even the most common necessarily. A lot of foods are made with beet sugar (another very common type of sugar), but it is impossible to tell what kind of sugar a food has in it without eating it and discovering through a reaction. The nice thing is that since a lot of packaged or restaurant foods have specific suppliers, you can usually depend on the company sticking with the same type of sugar. And as far as using sugar for baking, Crystal Sugar is always beet sugar (which is good, since buying sugar labeled as beet sugar is ridiculously expensive).
All that to say, I probably won’t be frequenting this starbucks very often unless I feel like being sick :( Oh well, I can always get my sugar/coffee fix from Ferrero Pocket Coffees (which luckily do not seem to bother me).

Okay so this is pretty cool in my opinion! Apartment Therapy (the website that link points to) is having a pet diy design contest. That is definitely my favorite idea so far and it doesn’t look to bad either!
On the other hand, I suppose you could get carried away with that idea and end up with something like this instead. (Click through on the little kitties to see how the people designed their house around their cats.) You definitely can get carried away with spoiling your kitties and become a crazy cat person.
On the subject of kitties… Last night we got takeout Chinese food with the complimentary fortune cookies of course. Well as we were eating, Axel decided to sneak up on the table. He grabbed one of the fortune cookies and ran around the apartment trying to be all sneaky like:) It was pretty funny to watch, especially since he tried really hard to make it seem like everything was normal. I took some pictures but none of them turned out great (you can’t really tell what he is up to).
I bought some fabric today and may make a purse or something this weekend. Although if the weather continues to be gorgeous, I may not want to stay inside long enough to make anything…
